You can get to Poway, Escondido, and north county beaches in Carlsbad and Encinitas all within an easy 20 minute drive.
Even through Rancho Bernardo is a part of San Diego, it really has an ambiance that sets it self apart from the rest of the area. Rancho Bernardo has a decidedly Spanish feel to that you’ll notice as you drive around; red clay roofs adorn a majority of the buildings. Try not to get into an accident driving around, because it is easy to get caught up in the scenic landscape of canyons and rolling hills that make Rancho Bernardo special.
Rancho Bernardo is home to several community parks including Webb Lake Park, Rancho Bernardo Community Park and the Rancho Bernardo Dog Park.

Rancho Bernardo is also home the Bernardo Winery, which is a fabulous place to taste wine, dine or shop. Orfila Vineyards and Winery in Escondido grow their own grapes and is also a beautiful place to visit and taste wine.
Hiking and fishing is also just moments away at Lake Hodges and Lake Poway.
Just north of Rancho Bernardo is one of our areas real treasures – the San Diego Wild Animal Park. The San Diego Wild Animal Park is an 1800 acre preserve with over 3500 animals, where visitors can observe animals in their natural settings. One of the most popular exhibits at the San Diego Wild Animal Park is the Journey Into Africa
tour which is designed to give visitors the feel of being on a safari in Africa. Expect to see rhinos, giraffes, zebras and more!
If cultural pursuits are top on your list, then make sure to catch a show at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts or the California Center for the Performing Arts in Escondido. Queen Califia’s Magical Circle Garden, located at Kit Carson Park in Escondido, is the only American sculpture garden by internationally acclaimed artist Niki De Saint Phalle.
